KMAC Excursion
The InSights Art crew takes a trip to the KMAC Contemporary Art Museum. The museum currently has three exhibitions to visit. Pictured above, the InSights crew is viewing photographer Stacy Kranitz works, As It Was Give(n) To Me, a collection of photos that expand the narrative of Appalachia beyond the binary of right and wrong.
Later that evening…
It’s time to Meet the Artists, just before the ceremony begins! Artists, families, teachers, EOT’s, APH Staff, and beyond, take a trip up to the Spire to meet these dazzling artists, and spot a marvelous 360 view of Downtown Louisville. In the foreground of the photo above, APH President Craig Meador poses with artist Taryn Falagan, while others chat and observe artworks in the background.
In the entryway of the Spire, guests chat with one another and others view the artworks on display in the exhibit. Light pours in from the large windows that circle around the spherical room.
Artist Spotlight!
Joining us from the Georgia Academy for the Blind is Justice Smith, a 7th, 8th, and 9th Grade student who received an Honorable Mention in the 2023 InSights Art competition! In the photo above, Justice poses in front of his artwork, ‘Foil Portrait,’ which hangs just over his right shoulder. Justice has short, curly black hair, brown skin, a big grin, wearing glasses with a black, circular frame. Dressed dapper for the InSights Art Ceremony, he wears a Georgia-peach colored button up, and a gray and black checkered tie!
